We care for all people in our community, connecting with them in the spirit of Jesus.
Peter tells us, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed.” Acts 10:38. Our Care Ministries provide encouragement, support, and care for the special needs of the people in the Golden Valley Lutheran Church family. Through volunteer training and hands-on ministries, we seek to ease the transition and make new connections within a new church home for our visitors and new members.
Encouragers Homebound Visitations
This ministry focuses on the needs of people who have lost their physical mobility. Encouragers (trained volunteers) take special interest in supporting homebound individuals with weekly or biweekly visits, phone calls, greeting cards, and errand running. GVLC staff also visit to bring encouragement, Holy Communion, and prayers.
This ministry focuses on personal visits and prayers for those that are hospitalized. Trained volunteers and church staff visit to offer comfort, support, friendship, and prayers.
Bereavement care ministers to people who have lost a loved one. Through cards, phone calls, letters, and visits, we seek to ease the grieving process. Regularly scheduled visits occur at the one week, one month, three month, six month, and one year anniversaries.
A dedication group of men and women in the GVLC congregation is committed to praying for members, family, and friends of those who have identified a specific need or prayer request. Members of the group pray in their homes. Individuals submitting a prayer request are contacted with our support, encouragement, and inquiry into other ways in which GVLC can help.
Our Director of Care Ministries has a network of Christian resources: support groups, counselors, and workshops to connect individuals in need with reliable Christian help, support, and education. Contact Cindy about any of GVLC’s Care Ministries at 763.544.2810 X13 or firstname.lastname@example.org
